Southend-On-Sea
This is a very popular seaside town in Essex that gets flooded with UK holiday setters every year in the summer. It has some great beaches to sit back and relax in the sun. The adventure island is a large amusement park with rides for everyone to experience, there is even a roller coaster to ride!
Southend Pier is another location you have to visit if you are staying in the area. If you are looking for somewhere nice to stay before you go on an experience then Southend-On-Sea is a great choice.
Chelmsford
Situated right in the heart of Essex, Chelmsford has more of a village feel about it. With some great high street locations for shopping and some historic buildings including the wonderful 15th century Cathedral in the town centre.
The huge Hylands park is located in Chelmsford and is home to the very popular V-Festival each year that gets a massive amount of visitors. The Essex county cricket club is located in Chelmsford which holds large cricket events. Chelmsford is another good location to stay if going on experiences as you will have sites very close by. It also has good links to London if looking to go to the big city for experiences.
Colchester
This is Britain's oldest recorded town so has lots of history and a great heritage. There are some fantastic museums to visit in the Colchester area. Although now the city has been brought up to the modern age and has very good areas for shopping and eating out.
Another large attraction is the Colchester Zoo which is a fun day out for any age group. This is a really good location to stay if you are travelling far for your experience, and want to have a short-break as opposed to a half day experience.
There are plenty of other things to see and do in Essex, but all 3 of these locations are a great idea for a short holiday that you can combine with a once in a lifetime experience day.
